This collectible antique rug presents a unique heart-shaped bulb that serves as fertile ground for a “Tree of Life”. This Kerman Rug with its rich design containing unique sun, moon, deer and beautiful peacocks captures all signs with four mustached gentleman on each outer corner representing the four seasons.

Tree of life is a unique piece of woven art representing the nature and universe at its most attractive way a naive folk art can achieve.

Kerman Rugs – Since the seventeenth century and most likely since centuries before, Kerman has been one of the major weaving centers where some of the finest high-quality Persian carpets were woven. The so-called Vase Carpets of the Safavid period are among the greatest masterpieces of Persian weaving.

Kerman is located in the great desert of Southern Persia. Kirman has been an important trading and weaving center even before the time of Marco Polo and a major stop on the Silk Road.

Kerman carpets (sometimes “Kirman”) are one of the traditional classifications of Persian carpets. Kerman is both a city and a province located in south central Iran, though the term sometimes describes a type which may have been made elsewhere. Kerman rugs are prized for a wide range of designs, a broad palette, use of natural dyes and fibers, great tensile strength and abrasion resistance, and expert color combinations. Typical manufacturing used an asymmetrical knot on cotton foundation, but rare examples include silk or part silk piles, or silk foundations with wool pile.

Vase carpets, a type of Kerman rug distinctive of the 16th and 17th centuries, are characterized by an allover pattern of stylized flowers and oversized palmettes with vases placed throughout the field.
