An Exemplary fine and balanced color palette rug for the City of Kashan in central Persian ( Iran ).
It was woven around 1880 with the softest silk knotted pile on a silk foundation. It was perhaps woven as gift for an important occasion like a wedding or a dignitary’s visit. It is rich in coloring and the design is full of little flowers and foliage, which is supposed to remind the viewer of the gardens of paradise.
