Oushak rugs began just south of Istanbul, Turkey, named after the town: Oushak. The Oushak carpet is Persian-influenced unlike most Turkish rugs. The town of Oushak has produced Turkish rugs ever since the 15th century.

1550 woven silk rare Europe work of art. Brussels tapestry workshops produced tapestry’s from at least the 15th century, but the city’s early production in the Late Gothic International Style was eclipsed by the more prominent tapestry-weaving workshops based in Arras and Tournai.

This Bakhtiari rug is an absolute one-of-a-kind. It bears an inscription to the Order of the Head of the Army, making this an incredibly personal piece. Bakhtiari rugs are considered an esteemed form of art, mastered by the nomadic Bakhtiari tribe in Iran. These lustrous richly toned antique carpets prove that the weavers of this time truly knew the meaning of unique design. Baktiaris are known for the traditionally brilliant and vibrant colors as the palette acts to set off a visually stunning medallion. The motif is classical Baktiari, mixing the best of nomadic Tribal designs with more typically sophisticated urban Persian elements.
