Carpet weaving was one of the most outstanding aspects of textile production in India under the Mughal dynasty from the late sixteenth to early eighteenth centuries. This is a fine hand knotted natural dyed rug.
This Soumak Mafrash panel is woven with radiant wool and bright natural colors. This Panel was originally part of a storage bag used by the nomads in Western Persia. The deep copper, earth green and soft blue colors are an example of how tribes people of this region valued their creations like this one. A piece like this one is extremely rare and is popular with collectors worldwide.
