Rare Antique Bijar is Connoisseur-Caliber and is made of natural dyes, and fine wool. The small town of Bijar produces carpets that are known worldwide for their superb craft and fine materials. This small town and it’s surrounding villages are populated by Kurdish people who are known for their great craft and artistic ability. These grand carpets were often commissioned by Persian aristocrats and nobles. One distinguishing feature of these carpets are their heavy wool foundation. The weavers pound down the knots which create a carpet that can withstand up to 200 years of heavy use. This particular carpet has the classic Bijar motif and benefits from the same indestructible Kurdish weave with a light all-over palmette and lotus flower field. At Rugs and More, we offer the worlds most prized and collectable carpets- no matter what you’re looking for, we have every option available.

This Finest Heriz Rug is named after the largest town in the mountainous area of northwest Persia. It is said that Tabriz merchants who wanted room size carpets for export asked weavers to make rugs modeled after ancient tribal rugs of caucasus mountains The result is a stunning Heriz carpet, which is an hybrid of rustic village weavings along with a rich classical grand Persian court carpet. This particular rug is woven with the same natural dyes and handspan wool as it would have been a couple hundred years ago.
