Khotan
This wonderful Khotan rug shows all the hallmarks of the Khotan motif. An area on the border of Mongolia, China, and Persia, Khotan produced fantastic designs that meld all three of those unique areas into one cohesive and stunning collage. These rugs are prized by collectors of both Persian and Peking rugs. These extremely rare design concepts on this Ziegler & Company Usak Rug continued through the 17th and 18th centuries evolving in drawing and weave. The Turkish community revered carpet weaving as one of the highest forms of art. The court weavers of that time had tremendous resources at their disposal. What came forth were designs of the utmost beauty and magnificence that would reflect the power and refinement of the Ottoman Empire.
Turkish design traditions held that all designs were endless in the eyes of God, It was believed an artist’s work was capturing only a small portion of the complicated designs. The vast beauty of these carpets was appreciated by the rulers of the East and even more so by the noble and aristocratic classes of Europe. Beginning in the early 16th century, Oushak Medallion carpets were featured in European portraits to signify the wealth, stature and taste.

Only the finest antique Mahal rugs are able to carry the Sultanabad name. Originaing in the city of Sultanabad, these beautiful rugs were the first to gain wide acceptance in the West, as firms such as Ziegler & Co established rug workshops that focused on melding the Mahal stylings with the more reserved Western needs of design and color. This fantastic example dates from the late 1800’s. This Ziegler & Co. Sultanabad has an all over henna flower design that is true to tradition. These splendid designs and natural influenced hues will be sure to assume a royal ambiance in your home for years to come.

Ziegler & Co. Sultanabad carpets are among some of the most sought after weavings from persian towns. They have a strong pull for both connoisseurs and Interior designers. Due to their casual and shockingly contemporary designs, designers consider these rugs for their decor options. These Sultanabads are extremely difficult to find in an international market.In 1883 Ziegler & Company established itself as the first to master Sultanabad rugs for the larger rooms and different color palette needs of the western world. That has continued to today, and this masterwork is a prime example of how Ziegler has perfected the melding of classical designs and master weaving to produce only the finest art for the floor.

This Finest Heriz Rug is named after the largest town in the mountainous area of northwest Persia. It is said that Tabriz merchants who wanted room size carpets for export asked weavers to make rugs modeled after ancient tribal rugs of caucasus mountains The result is a stunning Heriz carpet, which is an hybrid of rustic village weavings along with a rich classical grand Persian court carpet. This particular rug is woven with the same natural dyes and handspan wool as it would have been a couple hundred years ago.

A very rare Antique Serapi dating from the 1870’s. The Heriz influences can be noticed in the tribal motifs in use on both the medallion and the field. The geometric patterns in the inset are fantastically woven, and the use of camelhair provides a wonderfully luxurious air to the rug. These works of art are woven in a distinct style that is found in the Heriz region. The larger scale and spaciously placed designs are what differentiates these carpets from others
