Kula is the capital town of the Manisa Province in Western Turkey. Nearby Usak and Bergama, it is one of the important rug weaving centers in Anatolia. Common rugs from the area include prayer rugs with a mihrab niche design. Another style of Kula rugs are “graveyard rugs” or “mazarlik” which use gloomy, beautiful color schemes.
